Blend shapes and the new Paige

Hey hey hey. Well, I have not been blogging because I went for a holiday to LA! WOOOHOOO! I had lots of fun and being a kid again when I stepped into Disneyland. Anyway, this is what I have done so far.

I was almost done with Paige’s blendshape when Kez made me realized that her face shape looks weird. So I redid her face with the help of Kez. Thanks KEZ! And this is how it looks like now.

And these are her blendshapes.

As for Ryan, he has no problems at all so these are his blendshapes.

Animatics

Hey hey hey! I have not been blogging because I have been busy with my interim 1 which is my animatics. The reviews were good. People laughed and I just had to redo the voice over because it is not as believable. Other than that it was good. I’m so happy!

Here’s my animatic and a turntable of my character. Enjoy!

Day 12

I went to school for the past few days just to do up my model. Had Mr Ronalds help with the side view of the girl as there huge problems with her head when I modeled it out. I'm happy that I managed to model the girls head out within 3hrs. I just need to add lines at the corner of both characters eyes and a edge flow around the mouth area. Well, these are my character models. Hands included. I did 2 different kinds of hair styles for the girl.

Please give comments!

Day 11 (Part 2)

Oh, new updates! I did the glasses, teeth and tried attaching the head to the body. I’ve yet to do the hand so hope it could be done fast. I need to do a few adjustments. This is just a test.

Day 11

I went to school at 10 to do the recording. I had to re-record it as the previous voices are not that convincing. So, I invited my friend over again to do the recording. I hope it sounds better now.

I took the afternoon off and just rest my eyes and got back to work during the night. I was so happy when I managed to guys head without any problems. I mean there was problem but then I solved it fast and get on with it. I hope its ok. I still need adjustments but then hey I’m proud of myself!

Do leave comments.

Day 10

Well, I went to school early today to get my lady’s head started and boy oh boy it’s not that easy. I have to like really plan it out. I got Wendy and Kez to help me out with the head and the body. I showed Alan my models and he said that its fine it’s just that I have to bend the arms and the palms need to face outward so that it’s more natural. The lady head still looks weird though but then it’s ok I think I might what to redo it.

Anyway, I still have animatics, find the sound, re-record the voice, texturing and rigging. Oh gosh so many things to do! I’m freaking out! Wish me luck man!

Day 09

I managed to model out the girl’s body within 3hrs. I’m so proud of myself. But then I had lots of problems with the guy. I could not get the body right, it is too square, the arms are too small, finding out a way to extrude the collar, legs just look so weird and last but not least it looks more like a women. So, I did some research and I mixed and max from my reference pictures that I have and slowly adjust my model. I had to redo it 3 – 4 times when I finally got it right. It’s hard work. I have yet to model the head though. So this is what I came up with so far and I hope it’s ok. Still have lots to do with the head and the hands.

Do leave comments! Oh oh..I’m still not done with her shoes.

Day 08

I went to school today to get my learning contract and contact sheet signed. I showed Alan my modeling and he said that I should not make the modeling too perfect as you know nothing in this world is perfect. He helped me with the texturing of the tree and the picnic mat. He said that certain things like the basket and the tree bark could be done in Zbrush. So Zbrush! HERE I COME! I want to finish all my modeling and texturing by next Wednesday so that could start on my animatics. Oh gosh, so many things to do. I’m freaking out!!!

Well, I have to get back to work. More updates soon!

Day 07

I woke up early to continue with my modeling and so far, I’m progressing. I’m not sure about the size of the objects but I will resize it when I place the characters in my scene. I’m really happy with the tree though. I am going for the simplified look as I could spend more time in animating and editing. Sound is really important in an animation. It plays a huge role but hey I’m going out the rest of the day I deserve it.

Day 06

Oh gosh! I have been busy with my other work and I didn’t have the time to do my FYP. I feel so stressed up. Anyway, I went to school early to get my 3D modeling done. I started by modeling the environment. Things like the cups, mat, basket and others. I spent the time searching for reference pictures in goggle. To my surprise, I got most of the picnic objects done and I’m happy with the results.

There was consultation with Alan today but all he wanted to see was our learning contract as we need to submit it this week. He approved mine and he asked me to send it to him so that he could print it and get it signed.

Other than that, I have to do my modeling fast so that I could get my texturing and rigging started. Time is running and so are the days. I will post my final environment when I’m done!

See ya!

Day 05

Woke up extremely early today to do my very rough storyboard. So we had consultation today and I should Alan my storyboard, finalized character and my learning contract.

He said that my learning contract is fine and I just need to change what i have achieved for my primary and secondary aim. He helped me with it and I am finally done with it. As for my character design, it has been improved but then certain things like the guy’s leg and the girls side view needs to be edited. My storyboard is fine but he suggested me to add more funny scenes. He gave an expample like when the girl point at her teeth to say that he has chili stuck in his teeth but he misunderstood and thought she wanted a kiss so he leans forward. She waved her arms and said its his teeth that his the chili not a kiss. Then there was an awkward silence then she remembered that she brought watermelon. Thats where the incident happened.

So yah, other than that Alan said I’m good to go. I’m so excited to start production. Oh and my title needs to change.

That’s all.

Day 04

We had a group meeting today. Just to share our ideas and what we had done so far. I showed my character design and learning contract and Alan said that I should change my secondary aims because why must I only judge on one thing when I could judge it in general.

As for my character, the male does not match with the female so I need to go bak to the drawing board, I did ask help from Kezia, Ubin (year 2), Dion and Rachael. Eventually, I managed to get it done today.

Anyway, I just need to do my storyboard and maybe start recording my character voices so I can add it in my timeline in my animatics.

My character designs are below and how it changes to my finalized character.

Thats’s all

Day 03

We had class today so I did my character yesterday and showed it to Alan today. He approves the male character but then it is not finalized yet. So, I want to re draw it back. I did ask for Julian’s advice about my story but he said it was too cliché. He suggested me that the story should be more like the male, blind and the female, deaf. I told him that it was emo and he said that emo sells. I tried doing emo and serious but that is really not my thing. I love to do comedy and just make people laugh because laughter is the best medicine.

Well, Julian did ask Alan if my story was cliché and he said that he was fine with simple stories as long as we are able to put it across with our animations. So in other words Alan disagrees with Julian. I dont want to change my story because I like the way it is. I might be adding some stuff though.

That’s it for today!

Day 02

FYP has finally begun. We had to split in a group of three or four just for consultations. So, we shared our stories and improve on it if we could because helping each other is the best. Well, during internship, I already thought of a story and currently I have modified it like five times. Finally, it is being approved by Alan unless I changed to the guy tripping and accidently hit the girl who was drinking the juice. I changed that and well, my story is done. Now I’m left with character and environment design. Oh, I could start on my storyboard or just go straight to my animatics.

This is my finalized story, please leave do leave comments:

Title: Imperfection is perfect

Justin and Ann both met on the net, long chats on msn and the phone, when finally; they decided to meet for the first time.

They met at the middle lane park by the oak tree. Ann prepared the food and waited. Justin came on time. Feeling confident and calm, he walked up to Ann but then he accidently tripped over a branch and fell on her. Unfortunately, she had a glass of orange juice in her hand. He took soviet that Ann brought and tried to wipe the stain off but she just remained calm, gave a polite smile and told him to take a seat.

Ann passed him a hotdog sandwich and they chatted while eating. During the conversation, weird things start to happen. Mustard and chili fell onto Justin’s new shirt. Instead of telling him, Ann laughed and pointed to his shirt. He looked and laughed as well but then he has bits of chili in between his teeth.

Ann was rather disappointed as the date was not as well as she planned. After finishing their hotdog sandwich, Ann had an idea of a watermelon eating contest. The loser has to clean the area up. Justin agreed and she took out a ¾ cut watermelon. He gave this confused look but still agreed.

She was too excited that she finished it first and gave a really huge smiled that revealed her missing teeth. Justin burst out laughing and pointing at her teeth. She realized and placed her missing tooth where it belongs and teared a little bit. He reached over and touched her shoulder and said look at mine. He took out his full set of teeth.

Moral of the story is: No one is perfect therefore imperfection is perfect to Justin and Ann.

Anyways, day one is always the briefing day and we get to choose which lecturer that we are more comfortable with and I changed to Alan as I do need help with 3D. hehe. That’s all actually. The day has yet to begin.
